- INFORMATION / BIOGRAPHY -
Frank B. Walsh
Originally from the east coast, Frank’s first
opportunity to discover the scenic beauty of the southwestern
United States came while serving in the military at Fort Huachuca,
Arizona. His interest in photography began over twenty five years
ago, and because of his love for the spectacular scenery of the
desert southwest, he returned as often as possible to photograph
in Arizona and Utah. Following his business career, Frank and
his wife, Patricia, relocated to the Tucson area in 1998, where
he now devotes his time pursuing what has become his passion.
Frank photographs using both
film and digital media, from 35mm to 2 1/4" formats depending
on subject matter and location. Camera equipment used in his pursuit
of photographing our natural world, includes Canon Digital SLR's,
Hasselblad 2 1/4" format and XPan film based cameras. As
an example, images contained in the Panorama Gallery were photographed
using Hasselblad's XPan panoramic camera, while the majority of
wildlife images in the Yellowstone Gallery, were produced from
digital originals. To insure the highest quality of his prints,
all photographic enlargements are custom produced utilizing archival
inkjet or Fuji photographic papers.
Frank's work has been published
in Tucson Lifestyles Magazine, Cowboys and Indians Magazine, the
National Wildlife Refuge Association, and nationally distributed
annual calendars. He contributed to "Here Is New York"
an exhibit of World Trade Center photographs published following
the events of September 11, 2001. His photography of the "Aspen
Fire" of 2003 was selected by Tohono Chul Park for their
exhibit "Wildfire", a compilation of art reflecting
on the recent devastating Arizona forest fires. Frank's fine art
photography also was selected for the corporate offices of Proxtronics
Inc.a Springfield, Virginia based environmental engineering company.
He is represented in Tucson exclusively at Old Pueblo Frameworks
and Gallery.
